Traffic Signaling on the Narrow Route of the Alpenstreet / Blütenweg in Lippstadt (North Rhine-Westphalia)

Traffic Signaling on the Narrow Route of the Alpenstreet / Blütenweg in Lippstadt (North Rhine-Westphalia).
On behalf of the city Lippstadt (North Rhine-Westphalia) work should begin in coordination with the Signalbaufirma (Signal System Firm) Stoye on the almost 100 meter long, narrow stretch of the Alpenstreet / Blütenweg.
The traffic flow at this railway underpass has often been problematic.
It is often possible that as traffic flows at its normal pace, an oversize load (tractor, etc) could be at this narrow point just as the next heavy flow approaches. Since the signal intervals are laid out for normal traffic flow, it is often the case that a conflict could arise, where the narrow points in the underpass can not hold the vehicle flow. Two video detectors thus have been incorporated into the traffic signal system which will continuously observe the underpass.
As long as vehicles are still inside the conflict zone, the signal intervals will be “expanded” and vehicles approaching the underpass will be slowed or stopped. When the conflict area has been cleared up, the preexisting intervals will again take action.
These measures should come close to completely eliminated any of the above mentioned conflicts at the underpass.
